The Residence at Gramercy

All the staff was friendly and helpful. My apartment was just the right size. I have a studio b. I'm sleeping in my recliner so that was al I needed. They just hired an activity person. The receptionist had been filling in and was doing a great job. The cleanliness of the whole building was very good. The dining area was kept clean. That is a hard area to keep clean.

Administration is nonresponsive and avoids responsibility.

Phone calls are never answered. Always goes straight to voicemail. Administration never calls back no matter how many emails and messages you leave. We've been trying to resolve billing issues for months. If we cannot get these issues resolved, our next step is to seek legal assistance. Never had this much frustration with prior owners.

New management beginning September 25

Since new owners have replaced previous administrators, service to residents have been reduced. There are fewer direct care staff such as residents aids negatively affecting resident care. Prior to the new administration, there was a transportation coordinator who made residents appointments; such as medical appointments and coordinated those appointments with Gramercy’s transportation. That service is no longer provided. Transportation however is still available on certain days and during certain hours.

Surrounded by Kindness

The staff. They care about the residents and strive to make sure we know that. They greet you by name and ask if anything is needed or if I have any questions. The vibe here is positive and I've never felt like part of a herd. The residents are also mostly friendly. There are a few curmudgeons, but then again, you can push their wheelchairs down the ramp and wave bye-bye. Unless they have the brakes on. Then you have to just walk away.

Sometimes cheaper isn't always better

Room size is good; have 1 nurse, [name removed], would rate a 5! He does like some but, asks for a drink they don't bring. Their hours for supper are not accommodating. They have put my father at risk with his diabetes. There is a big time lack of any changes in a prescription is sent from a doctor to when the nurses get it on their computers. Risked a diabetic coma. They should have went over how they deal with diabetics.

Nice facility

My elderly father was at The Residence at Gramercy for 6 months. I thought it was a nice facility although it is a bit outdated in some areas. The carpet in the hallways could be replaced. His studio apartment was very nice. It had new paint and 3 large windows that made his room nice and bright. The kitchenette was a wonderful bonus. The staff was always very friendly. The only thing I didn't like was when my dad would push his alert button it often took several minutes or longer for someone to come and help him…
