Friendship Village of Columbus is a not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community established in 1978. Nestled in a residential setting on 25 acres of naturally wooded grounds, we are conveniently located near downtown Westerville. Our community is based on respect for older adults and their right to make choices, which is reflected in our mission: 'to promote independence, wellness, and community for older adults in an active and friendly continuing-care environment.' Our housing options are designed so that residents can live at their highest levels of independence for as long as possible. In all levels of our care continuum, Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing, residents are provided social, cultural and educational activities along with a wide variety of special amenities. There's always something happening around our community. The moment you arrive at friendship Village of Columbus, you will feel welcome. The high spirits of our residents and staff, along with our inviting atmosphere, truly set us apart from other retirement communities in the area. Our residents and staff are proud of our well-earned reputation of being a warm, friendly and exciting place to live. As they often say, 'You can't say Friendship without saying FRIENDS!' Our residents enjoy dining with friends and neighbors in our spacious dining rooms, checking email or updating their status in our computer center, working out individually or with a class in our fitness center, enjoying a delicious cappuccino in our coffee shop or joining a committee or special interest club. Friendship Woods provides a pleasant place to walk or read. Here residents experience life in a new way, with both the time and opportunities to remain active, independent and involved at any stage of their lives. At Friendship Village, we believe you never stop learning and growing. We bring in experts to discuss foreign policy, fine art, and world travel and host programs by musicians, entertainers, and guest lecturers. We take trips to local attractions, cultural displays and special events. Our residents enjoy concerts and choral groups, bible studies, exercise classes, films and holiday celebrations. In our Independent Living Apartments, residents enjoy a life free of household chores and maintenance duties. Instead of mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, or scrubbing the kitchen, our residents enjoy a show downtown or have lunch with friends! Come on over and hand in your cleaning supplies and garden tools! Meals, housekeeping, transportation, and a wonderful array of social opportunities await you. Our Ridgewood Assisted Living residents enjoy these same freedoms with 24-hour assistance with daily living as needed. Bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication reminders are provided by a staff of caring, trained professionals. Breakfast is served to each resident in the comfort of his or her own apartment. Two other delicious meals are served daily in our dining room. Activities are scheduled every day so there are plenty of opportunities to socialize. Ridgewood Terrace, our memory care center, provides a secure, home-like setting and specialized care for residents experiencing early to mid stages of Alzheimer's or dementia. Our professionally trained staff is available 24 hours a day to work with residents to ensure they live at their highest level of independence. Our Health Care Center, certified for Medicare and Medicaid, provides short-term rehabilitation, intermediate and skilled nursing care to residents. Friendship Village residents have priority access to the Health Care Center should the need arise. We are one of the few communities in Central Ohio featuring VitalStim Therapy, a highly specialized treatment to aid in recovering swallowing functions.
