Abiitan Mill City is a state-of-the-art retirement community in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Our Chicago-style building opened in 2017 with 86 apartments for those 55 and above. The unique energy of downtown Minneapolis motivates our pursuit of wellness, appreciation for art, and sense of adventure. Our modern, brick and stone exterior fits perfectly into the downtown cityscape. With marble, grey, and white accents, our accessible apartments and common areas feel luxuriously designed. Living Amenities Our community is nestled among sidewalks which lead throughout our exquisite urban environment. Residents at Abiitan Mill City may choose between eight different floor plans, consisting of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options. We invite residents to furnish and decorate their apartments as they wish to reflect their individual tastes and preferences. All of our apartments boast vaulted ceilings, kitchenettes, and large windows with views of the Minneapolis cityscape. Residents love hosting cocktail parties at their granite or quartz islands, symmetrically lit by delicate pendant lighting. Our stainless steel appliances and spacious cupboards create the perfect environment for self-proclaimed chefs to try out their newest recipes. Private balconies offer a confidential space for residents to enjoy alone time in the cool, autumn air. We host an assortment of amenities, including emergency call systems, washers and dryers, air conditioning and heating, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and state-of-the-art scheduling technology for residents to plan visits with friends and family. Dining Abiitan Mill City is leading a new era of retirement living and dining. Our award winning restaurant is nestled in the heart of our building. Porter Cafe, along with Smith & Porter Restaurant and Bar, offer the perfect spaces for our residents to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal. Also open to the public, our dining services prioritize modern, seasonal meals that satisfy a wide range of tastes. Our professional chef is constantly working to improve menus and design meals that make residents feel like they're living in the lap of luxury. We provide three meals a day and snacks to our community residents, including delicate scones, juicy burgers, and perfectly seasoned fish. We also welcome residents to bring friends and family to enjoy happy hours at our tended bar. Common Areas The indoor common areas at Abiitan Mill City include G-Werx, a 200-square-foot fitness center with patented training technology. Residents attend tai chi, yoga, and Zumba classes weekly to stay in shape and increase their mobility. Weights and machines offer visitors space and equipment to exercise on their own terms, or with assistance from our personal trainers. We also provide an arts and crafts center, as well as a salon, a bar, a cafe, a library, a TV lounge, and a meeting room for residents to use in their free time. Our common seating areas are smartly decorated for residents to sit comfortably beside the fireplace and read their favorite books or chat with friends. Medical Services Staff at Abiitan Mill City takes pride in offering residents discreet, personal services in the comfort of their apartments. When personal or medical services are needed, we come to you, making sure that you're always comfortable. Our staff consists of trained professionals, experienced in addressing activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and moving from a wheelchair to a bed. When it comes to medication, we understand that organization and timing can be stressful. We can be there to help residents organize their medications and offer reminders about dosage. Our full range of care services are effective, aiming to keep residents feeling their best. Care Types Offered Abiitan Mill City provides housing with services , as well as assisted living , comprehensive home care , and memory care services. These terms are defined as follows: Housing with Services An establishment providing sleeping accommodations to one or more residents, and offering one or more regularly scheduled health-related services or two or more regularly scheduled supportive services. Health-related services include professional nursing services, home health aide tasks, or the central storage of medication for residents. Supportive services include help with personal laundry, handling or assisting with personal funds of residents, or arranging for medical services, health-related services, social services, or transportation to medical or social services appointments. This establishment may have a special care unit for residents with Alzheimer's or dementia. Assisted Living Facility A licensed facility that provides sleeping accommodations and assisted living services to one or more adults. Assisted living facilities may also provide dementia care. Assisted living services include: assistance with essential daily activities, medication management, assistance with self-administration of medicine, assistance with transfers, services from a licensed nurse or other medically licensed provider, and more. Comprehensive Home Care Provider A home care agency that can provide assisted living services along with supportive services.
