PositiveAmerican House provided a clean and safe place for my husband to stay while I had to be out of town for two weeks. The price was very reasonable and I did not have to commit to a longer period than I needed. The only complaint that I have is that I requested a couple of repairs be made to his room and these were never done. Otherwise everything was good including the food and the staff.

Some of the care staff are outstanding, very compassionate and caring of my loved one. However, the operations people, especially the head of it, simply do not care. There has been a bed bug infestation for months and they have handled things very poorly. It's shocking.

When my wife needed 24/7 care and was no longer ambulatory American House Cottage Grosse Pointe provided her with the care she needed. Because of her condition she could not actively participate in group activities so I can’t comment further on that aspect but I did notice that many activities were offered. White my wife was somewhat isolated staff made frequent visits and checked on her comfort, hygiene and diaper changes and also communicated with her. American House Grosse Pointe has a serious problem with bed bugs and other pests. Bed bugs can be found throughout the facility, including the dining room. Unfortunately, the management has done little to address the problem. Residents are angry and frustrated, but their pleas are falling on deaf ears. The severe shortage of staff has left them powerless to help. The infestation will likely continue indefinitely.
