I thought the food was not good and the portions were small. They are short staffed and the staff is overwhelmed. The entertainment activities were good.

My comments: mom seems to interact and socialize during morning activities, although I've only been there a few times in the morning, facility seems clean, mom says food is good and I was encouraged to decorate her room and shadow box for mom making it homey and familiar.

The room size. is just ok. She is not eating well and should be given a supplement drink when portion of food is not finished and not always happens. The activities are somewhat stimulating for her. The staff is nice and generally knows patient by name

I believe the fact that they specialize entirely in memory care makes a huge difference. At other facilities memory care residents can feel like second-class citizens compared to the other residents -- we saw this elsewhere. But at Chestnut Ridge they take such pride in serving people with dementia and treating them with the utmost dignity and respect.
