I toured several independent living facilities close to where I work since it would be a lot easier for me to visit my parents close to work. This center is more expensive, but they offer a lot more amenities than the other. One BIG benefit that they offer is cooking staff every day- they don't order food out/have catered meals (which can be late or cold or just bad) and can even do special orders (like you don't like the food- get a fresh hamburger or small pizza cooked without paying extra). My daughter convinced me to move to Ashwood Square because i was needed more help with my wife (her mother) than I could really provide like meals and safely bathing her without either of us getting hurt. We had both fallen trying to get her up from a fall few months before we decided to move. Ashwood Square allowed us to hire somebody to come and help my wife w bathing which was great. the made sure there were grab bars and elevated toilet seats in place. The Ashwood facility in Chattanooga has been quite good for our Aunt over the last year. She is well fed, has medication support and made friends at Ashwood. It allows here to live independently in her own apartment while still having the support she may need onsite. It is reassuring to us to have her at Ashwood.
