Critical

Some work hard. Needs improvement.

The NP is great he really cares. Some aids are great. Some are not. Food good. Can't get anyone to give showers. Rooms are not being cleaned. Bathrooms filthy. Clothes and towels disappear. Had to buy all new towels. Clothes. Sheets not being changed. One aid had real long nails. Takes sometimes over half hour to respond to call button. I don't like writing this because some aides are great. But some aides need supervision and training.

I was impressed right away by the level of activity in the main lobby/activity area. I noticed nurses or aides wandering among the residents and speaking to them, offering help if needed. The facilities were beautiful and clean. The medical services available are impressive. Overall I was very pleased with my tour and with [name removed] knowledge of the facilities and the residents. She called all of those we saw by name which I liked. If I were to give it a rating this facility deserves a 10/10.

Bickford of Chesapeake

We chose it because of the flexible, independent nature of the community, even for residents who are in memory care. Also, when the level of care increases a move is not necessarily required. One improvement that could be made is a central intake form for family, communications, and requests. The staff is hopeful, but sometimes it is not clear which one you need to speak to.
