Review for Brookdale Shawnee

Was only one who would accept on short notice from release from brookdale rehab. If I would have known quality of care we would have went other places. They definitely can not manage diabetic care, the staffing was sparse at night, communication with physician and nurses not consistent, test results not recorded. The building had several leaks plumbing issues.

Help for Mom

The cost is a little over $[fee removed]k for basic care. You can get the same cost for a private nurse for $[fee removed]/hr and your parents can stay home if a family member can stay nights with them. My mom needed extra care to keep her safe, so in mom's case Brookdale was a god send.

A Place For Mom

It is one of the better atmospheres, but it doesn't seem to matter to the residents. If they are sad and missing their family, atmosphere just doesn't matter to them. It's a place I would enjoy living in, except for the urine smell in the module hallway. The rooms smell fine. The cost is extreme, but mom is worth it. The [fee removed] up front fees for admin seems a bit high, but they did throw in a pillow, sheets and blanket and a small refrigerator for drinks. I would say 5 on everything but staff, there are a couple that I really don't care for, they had an excellent aid leave and did not try to keep her, she is very dearly missed.

Brookdale Shawnee is a beautiful facility. From the moment you walk in, you will find caring and attentive staff, willing to help each other and each resident. Safety and compassion are stop priority. They are top of mind when it comes to referring others. Thank you for all you do!
