Staffed with literal angels

Before visiting Charter, I thought it was terrible to send a loved one to any assisted living place. Visit a few. People are drugged up, sitting stationary for hours, waiting to die. Then I visited Charter. They had a guy playing live music, engaging an audience of residents. I would highly recommend Charter Senior Living of Columbia. The transition of my loved one from another state had the expected complications but the staff at Charter went out of their way to make the transition as smooth as could be hoped for. After my friend's admission, the staff showed a flexibility in finding the most appropriate way to deal with his dementia and his bilateral lower extremity paralysis. Would recommend

I keep getting texts about housekeeping but when I visit his room floor is sticky and there is trash in the floor. Nothing major but not enough to give 5. The rooms/amenities are comparable to the rest and are great. The non privacy fenced grounds nice big area to walk and can see through outside of fence.

Overall a good experience. While a bit expensive it's mostly in line with similar communities in the immediate area. It is nice that's it all memory care and has easy access to outside areas. The food service has improved lately with the hiring of a new head chef.

Overall A Great Place

My mother is currently a resident here, and overall it is a great facility. The people at all levels from the management to the floor nurses all seem to care and treat the residents with respect. Several of the nurses go out of their way to say hello to my mom when they start their shifts, and ask her how she is doing. The food is decent, and they have activities to keep people entertained.
