I like having lunch dinner or breakfast at any time between 7 am and 7 pm each day. The young food service needs improvement. It takes about 20 minutes to get served. yes I could recommend Merrill Gardens to others. Also I would like to clarify my comment about food service. The comment should read : the work performance of new hired food servers needs improvement. It sometimes takes 20 minutes to get served by the younger staff versus 10 minutes by the older food servers.

Overall the common area was always clean. There was always some staff turnover which is common in such facilities. The staff seemed courteous enough but I didnt see much interaction between the staff and residents. There were a few items sitting on tables for residents to do - puzzles, color sheets, baby laundry to fold , games but unless staff tried to engage the residents they weren't interested in participating . Staff is friendly and responds quickly. Monthly Town Hall meetings allow all the residents a chance to ask questions and make suggestions. The vivacious activity director is phenomenal. It is not possible to participate in every activity because there are so many. The activities are interesting, fun, and varied. Several common areas are available with tvs, comfortable seating, and a fireplace. The theater is comfortable and includes a very large tv. The dining experience was great. The staff was okay. We had an unpleasant experience with one of the staff members that we saw mishandling my mom. However, my mom had three caretakers that we were pleased with. The communication is horrible from the Director to the staff as well as from the Director to the residents and family members. All and all my mom enjoyed her stay there.
