Having toured other facilities, Morning Star (new management) since January is a good fit for my mother. The location is good. The "dining experience" needs improvement. Thought there would be an "open door" policy with administration, but there is a " gate keeper" who needs to know why. During the tour of the new management, I had mentioned some concerns, but apparently it is not high on their list. I know what's best for my mom. The new management does not understand seniors. Our relative seems to be very happy and this is a great feeling. The staff activities and facility are great. My only comment that I will note is that when there it is a dr app our relative is at front, all ready. I need to take time off to take them to the appt so every min counts.

A heartfelt recommendation

I couldn't be happier with the care my mother has received at Truewood Memory Care. The staff is warm, welcoming and truly goes above and beyond. The facility is always clean and I can tell they take pride in providing a comfortable environment for all residents.

Seniors just sitting around with no activities

Mostly what I saw was people just sat around in the common room, looking often into space. Barely anybody spoke. The person I visited reeked of urine. I wondered how many of these people had UTIs that were impacting their cognitive abilities. I saw a very little interaction. Several in wheelchairs or bedridden. I did not see a lot of activities and I spent days at a time there. I saw a lot of junk food available as snacks but I don’t think helped anybody’s brains whatsoever. Sugary cupcakes, pudding, chips. Overall a nice community - Staff is very friendly and helpful

Truewood is a great place for my mom. They take care of her very well. The meals seem to be appetizing. I ate there once and had fish and it was very good. Activities seem appropriate. My mom joins in when she's up to it.

Review for Truewood by Merrill, Henderson

Some staff are helpful some are not. Food quality has gone down and they need more help serving meals it takes to long to get served. They just raised her rent after a year by $[removed].
