CriticalAny assisted living facility is inappropriate for residents with cognitive decline or inability to advocate for themselves. There is no RN on staff or on call. "Elder caregivers" would be assessing and administering medications. This is especially concerning for hospice patients on morphine and other controlled drugs. Some staff, not all, feel "called" to work with the elderly. Focus here is on ability to move independently and eat regular food, not increasingly bedbound or transitioning to softer foods. PositiveThis place was so homey and relaxed! The staff was friendly, and the residents seemed happy. The place was very clean and the food being cooked in the open kitchen smelled delicious. They even had fresh vegetables they brought in from the garden out back. It's a small place, family owned, so it really seems like a home instead of a "facility".

CriticalI wouldn't recommend Pleasant Valley to anyone. The place smelled, staff was busy taking care of their own kids at work, there were no appropriate extra activities, and the food was not edible. My dad bought food to show the staff how to make a good meal for the residents, and they made it for themselves and their kids who were at work with them!
