The Crossings at Covington Commons Fort Wayne is a premier retirement community that assists seniors to reach maximum independence. Unlike other communities The Crossings at Covington Commons brings home and health together. Conveniently located in Southwest Fort Wayne, The Crossings at Covington Commons is close to emergency health care, full-service hospitals, shopping centers and restaurants. As a resident of The Crossings at Covington Commons, you'll benefit from all the freedom, comfort and security of living in a senior community. You'll enjoy the company of your neighbors and have opportunities to participate in a variety of community events. You may also choose from a wide range of planned social activities. The Crossings at Covington Commons offers 48 Independent Garden Homes and 106 independent and assisted living apartments on one floor with no large entry fee or endowment. Our Assisted Living is licensed by the state of Indiana providing 24 hour licensed Nurses and Aides. Our community offers levels of care based on an individualized assessment compiled by a licensed Nurse. Administration of Medications is also available. Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy are offered on site to aid in the development, recovery, improvement, and maintenance of functional needs for daily living. Extended Care Specialists round daily and are available 24/7 for urgent medical needs along with consultation, medication adjustments, and routine medical needs. Residents and families may choose to use a Home Health Company, Hospice, or Private Caregivers for additional care. On site professional Podiatry services are also available. Additionally at The Crossings at Covington Commons we Respite Care, a short term stay, perfect for recovery following a hospitalization, while a caregiver is on vacation, or just as a trial period. Veterans Aid and Attendance Benefits may be available and wartime veterans and surviving spouse. Contact Covington Commons directly for details.

CriticalWould not recommend
Overall not recommended. No tour of the property, and I asked about help with cardboard while moving and was told to use my truck. I don't drive. MS is stable but when will it hit again? Also mold on the patio door caused fatigue and runny nose. I'll never go back and when I talked to other residents they did not appear to be happy.

PositiveNurse's help in a time of need
It was roughly 5:30 one morning and I had a medical emergency, so I pressed my button half asleep and the nurse was in here quickly and calmly ready to help. She just told me to relax as she cleaned around my room, never once making a big deal of it. She helped make arrangements on the spot about further treatment. It was nice how calm she was about the situation. I also have several friends on the dining staff, [name removed] being one of my closest friends.

Staff does not communicate well with each other. Week 3 of new resident and last week they still could not get her bedding or personal laundry day done when they told us it was going to be. Lots of activities is a plus. Not sure how often they actually check on their residents

The staff that cared for daily was short with her and made her feel like she was bothering them if she needed something. The staff tried to get her to stand regularly and use a walker when she was not supposed to. This direction was given to them by her oncology physician. She had bone cancer in her hip that was at risk for pathological fracture. I discussed this with nurses, staff and rehab but all still made her stand, pivot and walk with a walker. She liked the food

PositiveI met with the sales manager and discussed the needs of my relative both physical and financial. We then took a tour of the facility together. I left feeling hopeful and pleased but found the next day that there had been a misunderstanding regarding the option of Medicaid eligibility if needed in the future.

The food was great. The communication between the family and staff was not good. [name removed] the Executive Director did not call me back after 3 times I called her.
