Unacceptable

My mother’s blood pressure was 220, and she was never properly checked on afterward. One day she asked for two bottles of water and was told there were no bottles available. Instead, she was given a single glass of water. Two months later, my mother passed away. Since then, the facility has refused to release the necessary paperwork to the insurance company. Brookdale Virginia Beach

All staff are very kind and caring with the clients and yes, we would recommend Brookdale Virginia Beach community to other families who may need a place for their loved ones.

Needs Improvement

Frankly, I was extremely disappointed. My father wasn't even there a year. They "lost" his wheelchair, threw away a bunch of his belongings due to soiling, yet didn't tell me when it would happen so I could replace them. His room was often smeared with feces AND I had to throw away his dresser because 2 drawers were full of maggots. I ended up getting hospice involved because I did not trust the care he was receiving from the facility. I do NOT recommend Brookdale to anyone. The one positive comment I have is that…

Needs improved menu

The only thing I can think of is that it sometimes can take a while to enter and leave the facility. The door is coded and they do not give the code out, therefore, you sometimes have to wait a while for someone to come to the door. Especially in the evenings. Their menu leaves a lot to be desired.

Would NEVER recommend

[date removed] arrived at 3:00 p.m. I fed her lunch was told by [name removed] her dinner will be held for her. Left the facility around 6:00 p.m. around 9:00 p.m. she asked for dinner .. they said kitchen closed .she asked for. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Kitchen closed .. she asked for juice. Kitchen closed she was given a warm bottle of water and that was the end of it.
