Wonderful 'at-home' setting

I have no complaints at all, so I would give them 5 stars. The facility is great! Modern, excellent dining setup and the rooms are spacious. The staff is upbeat and maintains a positive atmosphere.

Our families experience

No improvement's, they were good all around. Some super folks and a few poor, but overall good value, particularly when she was well. When she turned for the worse, she went downhill fast and got hospice. But I chose an outside group, which held them accountable and glad I did. Absolutely, but would recommend for folks with family and friends that visit and check on them regularly. And paid companions as and when needed.

Great staff and environment, food has gotten really bad

I moved in about a year ago. I loved everything about D.C,even the food. The medical staff is outstanding as well as the servers in the dining room BUT since about April or May of [removed name], the preparation ha continuity gone down hill. The food itself is not bad but the way the cooks fix it is terrible. It is either over cooked and too hard to cut, much less eat, cold, or has no sauce or taste what-so-ever. Great Staff But Really Bad Food

My mom moved in to Discovery Commons about a year ago. Her experience with everything except for the meals has been great. The staff is very helpful and flexible in dealing with my mom's medical issues. Initially, the meals were pretty good also. But about six months ago, they made significant changes to the meal service. Since that time, the meal quality has declined drastically. They are using low quality ingredients and frequently do a very poor job preparing the meals. They are often served cold or overcooked …

So far it's been good, there are always a few learning issues with staff and the residents but for the most part they have been very helpful and supportive to my Mom and I. My only other comment would be that I didn't jump into a decision about Discovery too quickly, I researched, visited several times and other places and found they were pretty consistent and I always saw people out of their rooms and socializing with other people.
