PositivePros: Had everything my almost 90 yo mother could want for independent senior living in the way of activities that she likes and large community of active residents. Nice size apartments compared with other senior living. Cons: no barrier free/accessible showers. My mother has permanently torn leg muscles and stepping into the shower is getting increasingly difficult. Some of the remodeling work has been shoddy. Need a good designer and worker supervision for remodels.
★★★★★
PositiveThey are updating the common room areas, which I think will be nice. The woman who I worked with at the beginning was amazing but the second woman that took her place cause she was let go was not so great. The front desk people are very nice. I've never eaten the food, but my mom says it's going through changes and a lot of people are not happy. I think it is a great place. They just changed ownerships and are going through some changes. If I had to do it all over again I would still send my mom there.
★★★★★
PositiveDiscovery village is great for active seniors who are able to access all the amenities on their own. They do have in house nursing support, but there is no memory care unit and the assisted living options seemed a bit piecemeal. The staff were all very helpful and compassionate as I had to navigate moving my mom 500 miles away into a safer facility.
★★★★★
PositiveThey were all welcoming and highly available. The other residents were also kind. He enjoyed his few days there
★★★★★
PositiveStaff - from the front desk to the restaurant - are exceptionally attentive and kind. Activities and events are engaging and entertaining. My mom is very happy there.
★★★★★
PositiveThe activities, the dining room, friendly staff are what really stick out about Discovery Village Chevy Chase. I highly recommend.
