PositiveHawthorne is a smaller and older residence, but the staff was very friendly and caring. All of the memory care residents were smiling and interacted with each other well. We also liked the fact that the bus driver offers rides to hospital visits for all residents. Since they offer shared bathrooms for memory care residents and we would like my mother to have a private bathroom, we have decided not to pursue this option.

PositiveOur friend stayed in the memory care floor of the facility. It was a hurried placement, however the staff was attentive and accommodating. They kindly assisted us through some complicated processes. Our friend was comfortable and able to be active, enjoying walking, and being able to go outside to enjoy the sunshine when desired. The private room with a shared bathroom was perfect. The food was good, and snacks offered frequently. The staff met special need requests well. Overall after settling in, there was a sens…

PositiveRetrieving medication at the end of my loved one's stay required few returns before we had her correct medication. I also question if she received her daily medication since her acetaminophen was not opened and her Memantine appeared to be at the same level when I dropped her off.Otherwise, I am pleased with the service she (and I) received.

CriticalMy loved one was a resident at Hawthorne Gardens Senior Living. Overall, the experience was poor. The friendliness was good. However, the cleanliness and the food were not good. The staff and the quality of care were poor. I would not recommend this facility to family and friends.

PositiveI toured Hawthorne Gardens and loved it, but again, it was a no-go as they did not have the staffing to provide 2-person transfer/assist. The lady there was very apologetic and noted post-covid staffing issues. She went above and beyond, however, and gave me many helpful suggestions that were extremely useful in my search. The lady there really went out of her way to be helpful (which was deeply appreciated given the circumstances and that I needed to find a place ASAP). While I have no actual experience with how …

CriticalIn November 2022, I wrote a positive review about Hawthorne Gardens and its wonderful executive director. Recently there has been a corporate shakeup and she has been let go and many other staff have also left or been fired. Rates have gone up and services have deteriorated badly, including care, food, cleaning, social activities. The residents are in shock and morale is at an all time low. Not a good time to place your loved one here.
