PositiveI would say that no matter where a loved one lives that the family or one family member should definitely be involved on a regular basis. Especially someone who needs extra care. Like Alzheimer's. Some people will be relieved to not have to deal with the Alzheimer's disease and it was a bit of a relief for me to have her in a safe place however when I became very involved and saw things I knew that was the best thing I could have done. I was there pretty regularly and I had about an hours drive!

PositiveThey hired outside staffing that was great. Their regular attendant's were on their phones and tucked in corners. Nursing staff was great. The contracted staff was amazing. We got to know them and they went above & beyond. The regular staff didn't take time to talk to us, but tes I would recommend

PositiveMy loved ones needs grew and he went to the PT unit at McCrite. He spent time there at least 3 times as [facility name removed] offered no Pt other than the useless Home Health agencies. McCrites had lower quality of rooms/decor etc but I loved their staff and their food was yummy.

PositiveAt any assisted living or memory care place, no matter how great the facility is, you will still encounter issues - so stay in close contact. I've had an issue with just a few of the nursing staff, but they are trying to educate them because not all nurses know how to deal with Alzheimer's patients. They also have a support group twice a month, so I think that's really good. The community itself is very nice and they do lots of wonderful activities, it's a great place.
