Care Types Offered Senior Star at Elmore Place operates an assisted living program , as well as an assisted living program for people with dementia . In the state of Iowa, these terms are defined as follows: Assisted Living Programs (ALP) ALP-provision of housing with services, which may include but are not limited to health-related care, personal care, and assistance with instrumental activities of daily living, to three or more tenants in a physical structure, which provides a homelike environment. Includes encouragement of family involvement, tenant self-direction and tenant participation in decisions. Assisted Living Programs for People with Dementia (ALP/D) Dementia-specific assisted living program - a program that serves fewer than 55 tenants and has 5 or more tenants with dementia between Stages 4 and 7 on the Global Deterioration Scale or serves 55 or more tenants and 10 percent or more of the tenants have dementia between Stages 4 and 7 on the Global Deterioration Scale or holds itself out as providing specialized care for persons with dementia in a dedicated setting. PositiveCaring staff
They have very attentive and friendly staff. Mom says she loves her apartment, it's very comfortable and she enjoys having laundry in her apt. She likes the dining choices. They have two entree choices at dinner, but if she doesn't like either of those she can choose from an alternate menu. So she can have shrimp(her favorite) every night. Or there's a 'lite' plate with cottage cheese and egg salad that she enjoys as well. They also have plenty of activities. She's made new friends and is doing well.

PositiveSeems like a nice facility…however most places seem nice when you visit. You can only hope that your mom is getting the care when no eyes are in them.

PositiveSenior Star is a nice place
The staff are very good and will try to help you with any problems. Your loved one may not integrate right away. Be willing to be patient. Personally I wish my parents could have stayed there, but one wasn't ready to be there. In the month that we were there, I think they did try to help my parents.
