Review for The Barclay at Charlottesville

I would give them a -1. I am not happy with them. They charged us for 5 days for room and assistance and she had not been admitted. After admission she died 3 days later and they through automated debits charged us for 1 month 2 days after she died. It took 3 weeks and multiple calls to get money back. [community removed] and Barclay are owned by same corporation. Both sell hard and under deliver.

Overall, a positive experience for our family and I'm hopeful for some improvement

Many of the aides are not friendly or proactive, forcing my mom to wait and ask for help repeatedly. The activities are wonderful but they now divide IL and AL activities, which makes Mom feel less than and causes divide in the community. The facility is very nice and makes Mom feel special but repairs are slow. Her room is very small. That, combined with the low level of care makes the price tag hard to swallow. Overall, this was a good move for her in addressing her loneliness and need for occasional care (wh

Overall wonderful experience

Although it is so difficult as a family, transitioning my mom into an assisted living facility, we were so lucky to find her new home here. We were referred by a friend who had also had to transition her father. My moms decline in memory was very quick and it was difficult but this move has worked out very well for her.

A great place for Granny

My grandmother moved in a few months ago, and it's been like night and day! She lived alone before this and wasn't able to get out much aside from when we visited but every time I've spoken to her over the phone she's told me all about getting to know her neighbors and how nice all of the staff are. I haven't gotten the chance to visit her yet but she's said the food was very good and that she really likes it there so far!

Worse memory care I know of especially for the very high cost

We were lied to by The Barclay representatives selling care for memory care patients. We were in a bind to quickly find memory care for our father who was living in AFL and had wandered off at night in the cold in only his pjs.  They told us we would find great care there and that he would be "cared for like they care for their own parents".  He received very little care and was put in quarantine on the incorrect belief that he had c-diff as soon as I gave them our notice we were leaving which was 5 days after we m

Review for The Barclay at Charlottesville

We have had very positive experiences with the staff, particularly since The Barclay took over from Anthology. The activities that are planned and the staff that run them are wonderful. My only complaint is that the elevators break down frequently, which is not only inconvenient but is a safety hazard.
