Solstice at Austin

I loved everything about Solstice! It's a gorgeous facility situated on a quiet street tucked back into lots of greenery. Everyone there seemed so nice, friendly, and cheerful. The meals that are offered sound so delicious. I love all of the activities and amenities that are offered as well.

beautiful place but disappointed when promised more than they could deliver

The facility is beautiful and the food is decent, but they haven't followed through with all of the promises they made about accommodations, and it feels like I'm having to step in a great deal on their behalf which was exactly what I was trying to avoid. I guess I want them to be a little more hands on.

"Just Like a Family"

When I toured Solstice 3.5 months ago, 2 of the residents said to me "Oh, you will like it here....We are just like Family!" I have found that to be true! I see residents helping each other - and that makes me happy! Our wonderful chef in charge of our kitchen has monthly meetings with the residents where he asks what we liked, and what we didn't like. He tracks which leftovers come back to the kitchen, so he knows which meals were not popular. However, he says to us "The last time we offered this meal, not many…

Pleasantly surprised. The rooms were lot bigger than I expected. Did not have that "institution-feel" that so many of the retirement homes have. I will consider this one when it is time.

Overall a great place

Most of the admin we met when we first selected the community are gone now, but they were very helpful and friendly. It's a nice community that offers just enough assistance for seniors who can still live independently and advocate for themselves. It was not a bad experience, my dad just needed a higher level of care.
